JOINT EXHIBITION @DI MASE ARCHITECTS 2020
Many thanks to the support I had of friends and guests attending my joint exhibition at DiMase architects February 2020 . It was a great eclectic crowd of people on opening night and appreciated that many had come from across town after work . Such a bonus to have had more than half of the works sold and to be rewarded with the company of special people. https://www.dimasearchitects.com.au
ALTAR AND ASCENSION;
Currently working on a new solo exhibition this being the tentative title featuring mixed media works.
MY CAMERA :
I work mostly with a medium format camera MAMIYA 645 in order to get the detail I need. The medium format cameras have very large negatives which allows a lot more space to capture detail in imagery. I bought my camera after saving a long time ( and still had to get it on EBAY ) . I bought it from a stills photographer who was working on Steven Spielberg mini series THE PACIFIC in Melbourne.
WORKSPACE:
For this current exhibition - and my previous one in Melbourne I work at home. I like to work in isolation of others and generally don't enjoy shared group spaces. I don't have my own studio which for myself I consider a luxury and hope maybe one day I will be able to afford it. I came from a background where my family just did the art where they could - usually at home . All you really need is to roll out some plastic, prepare your tools and be prepared to to have to clean it up each week. It's not ideal but it works for me and I still get to practise in large light filled space and blast my music loudly when Im working which is usually soundtrack oriented or music from people such as Klaus Schulze or Sigur Ros - I tend to go for something ambient which will fill up the whole space and not crowd my head with too many lyrics.
THE GOLDEN FLEECE.
Another project I hope to develop in the future will be small exhibition.
This project was inspired by my good friend Jason Patten who is an artist and model and we have known each other for more ethan 20 yrs . We first met in Perth WA - funnily enough at my first solo exhibition FRIENDS AND DEMONS.
Jason and I took series of photographs near the Yarra river on the first day of summer 2012 . We worked easily together and got many shots done just before the rain set in. Working with Jason on this series encouraged me to experiment with multiple exposure techniques work with nature and humans which is not my first preference. This photo shoot has in itself already influenced some of the works for my current exhibition ALTAR AND ASCENSION.
If anyone is interested in some of the prints from this photo shoot with Jason , I plan to have only a few featured as sale items and you are welcome to EMAIL me your interest. Some will be released in my SHOP area on this site in the near future.
